US Open Champion Naomi Osaka Is Nissan's Newest Ambassador

Williams received three code violations - on-court coaching (first offence, warning), racket abuse (second offence, point penalty) and verbal abuse (third offence, game penalty) - as she unravelled in the second set, branding umpire Carlos Ramos a "thief" and a "liar".

U.S. Open women's champion Naomi Osaka is back in Japan celebrating not only her landmark victory, but also a sponsorship deal with vehicle manufacturer Nissan.

People who are supporting Ms. Williams and criticizing Ramos don't understand that players can swear about a decision, but as long as they don't prolong their complaining, good umpires do nothing because the player might be right. From there, the wheels came off as the multiple time grand slam victor berated the Umpire, referring to him as a thief and a liar and lacing into him in front of the world. At last year's French Open, he drew criticism from the eventual champion, Rafael Nafal after they argued during a fourth-round match.

"The player is angry, blames the umpire, says "you will never work a match again".

"Growing up, my dad drove a Nissan, so being able to be a brand ambassador now, it feels like I've come full circle", Osaka said at a contract signing event at Nissan's headquarters in Yokohama. I have respect for him and all I ask is for that to be reciprocated.

Mr Chiu put the blame for the debacle on the umpire, Carlos Ramos.

Eliud Kipchoge speaks after smashing Men's Marathon World Record
The women's victor was Kenya's Gladys Cherono , who set a women's record for the Berlin race with a time of 2:18:11. Kipchoge was left with Josphat Boit, who owns a personal best of 59:19 for the half marathon, as his lone rabbit.

In many ways, it was not only an example of the best sports have to offer, but the best of what the world has to offer considering all of the first-class individuals from numerous countries who participate and compete to win the prestigious tournament.

Ramos has also been accused of inconsistencies.

But former professional umpire Richard Ings reckons Ramos is likely to put in a request that he not be. "I thought I didn't harm the grass".

"I didn't know Ramos was sitting in the chair. Professional tennis players, sometimes, I think we lose sight of that".

Because of the overwhelming disparity in the rate of code violations, men lead most of the types of violations, such as racket abuse. Williams yelled at Ramos. "It isn't the first time you have had to deal with unfair judgment against you, and yet you have this fantastic an ability to come back with such courage and grace", she said. An indignant Williams emphatically defended herself, denying she had cheated. "I don't think she looked at me, so that's why she didn't even think I was".

The ITF has now given a further indication of support for Ramos, seemingly drawing a line under the saga by appointing him to officiate the Davis Cup semi-final between the US and Croatia in Zadar.
