Dana White: Conor McGregor will not be punished for bus attack

07 August 2018

The fight comes as a relief for Dana White and his company, as they were severely lacking in star-power in McGregor's absence and watching pay-per-view numbers decline in the process.

As the world is now fully aware, a fight that is being called the biggest fight in UFC history will take place October 6 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada between reigning lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor. A promotional video then played to promote the bout. However, considering that fight takes place on October 6, a one or two-month turnaround to fight arguably the greatest fighter to ever grace an Octagon might be too much of an ask for the victor. It's gonna be a big fight.

But Ireland's McGregor, the first man to hold two UFC titles simultaneously, has made a career of achieving what some say is impossible, and this fall, he plans on putting a "1" in Nurmagomedov's loss column while taking back the crown he never lost in the Octagon.

Once McGregor resolved to return to the octagon earlier this year, Nurmagomedov was the obvious choice to be his next opponent - but the biggest obstacle to this bout appeared to be money. "I already won that one twice", Diaz said before storming off the stage as the McGregor-Nurmagomedov presentation was aired. McGregor, though, never defended the strap as he courted a boxing showdown with Floyd Mayweather, leaving a vacuum in the division.

UFC 227: Dillashaw retains Bantamweight belt; Cejudo earns revenge vs. Johnson
A brilliant night of fights went down at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California on Saturday Night (August 4th, 2018). Dillashaw is welcome to the opportunity of Cejudo stepping up to 135 to take a crack at the belt. "I want the belt".

Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov confirmed that his son would be preparing for the bout in the USA, and that Russian Federation "has the right to expect victory" from a man who is unbeaten in 26 fights in the UFC. The decision to strip McGregor (21-3) of his crown did not go down well and ill-feeling between the fighters escalated in the week leading up to Nurmagomedov becoming champion.

After a confrontation between associates of the pair, McGregor gatecrashed a Nurmagomedov press conference in NY in April. As part of a deal with prosecutors McGregor was also ordered to undertake an anger management class. "This is going to be one of the greatest fights you've ever seen".

In a video announced posted to Twitter Friday, the UFC touted the highly anticipated matchup between McGregor and Nurmagomedov, with UFC President Dana White declaring "The fight is done".
