Giuliani: Trump forced North Korea's Kim to beg for summit:The Asahi Shimbun

"And he has no need to do it, he's done nothing wrong".

Trump and his administration have been under fire since the president tweeted earlier this week that he has "the absolute right to pardon" himself but won't because he has "done nothing wrong".

In another tweet he called Mueller's appointment "totally UNCONSTITUTIONAL". "If presidents had the power to pardon themselves, we'd no longer be a democracy", Schumer said.

Trump's legal team is making clear that it will combat any effort to force the president to testify in front of a grand jury.

Former FBI Director Robert Mueller is the Special Counsel appointed by the Department of Justice to investigate into the allegation of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential elections in Trump's favour.

Giuliani, Trump's lawyer in the Russian investigation, noted that he was sharing a personal opinion and was not part of the United States foreign policy team. "The president has not done anything wrong", she said.

"I think the political ramifications would be tough", Mr Giuliani told ABC's This Week.

Kim Kardashian West met with Trump and his son-in-law Jared Kushner in the Oval Office last week in an attempt to convince him to pardon her. Trump has not yet decided whether he will move forward with either a pardon or commutation for Johnson.

The letter is dated January 29 and addressed to Mueller from John Dowd, a Trump lawyer who has since resigned from the legal team.

Facebook Scandal Not Isolated Case, U.K. Privacy Chief Warns
Facebook is disputing a New York Times report about how it shares data with device makers from Apple and Amazon to Samsung . If we've learned anything from the Cambridge Analytica scandal , its that our personal Facebook data has some real value.

The FBI began a counterintelligence investigation in July 2016 to determine whether Trump campaign associates coordinated with Russian Federation to tip the election.

While saying on Sunday that Trump wanted to sit down with Mueller, Giuliani added, "It's beginning to get resolved in favour of not doing it".

"That's what I mean by begging for it", Giuliani said.

Giuliani said Kim quickly changed his position, expressed willingness to discuss denuclearization and asked to have the meeting again.

Much was made in the last week of May when meetings took place between DOJ officials and members of Congress about the "informant" the Federal Bureau of Investigation had inside the Trump campaign.

The Constitution says the president can grant pardons "except in cases of impeachment" - suggesting to some that the president could pardon himself for a crime and still be impeached. "If four of them are completely innocent and one of them is your assumption that it's a guilty motive, which (Trump) would deny, you can't possibly prosecute him".

That was the first time Trump has raised the possibility of a self-pardon, but it came after a weekend in which his legal team repeatedly made that same point. "They said the President had nothing to do with that statement by Donald Trump Jr., and didn't draft it, didn't sign off on it and it turns out that is completely untrue".

"It is pointing out that the president is the stronger figure", Giuliani told the AP. While they would have normally served a mandatory minimum sentence of five years, U.S. District Judge Michael Hogan initially gave Dwight Hammond three months and his son Steven a year and-a-day behind bars.

He also dismissed the conversation surrounding the question of a potential presidential pardoning as "nothing more than an academic debate".
