Probably the only thing that Stephen Curry doesn't have on the resume is an NBA Finals MVP.
Golden State All-Star guard Klay Thompson expects to play in Game 2 of the NBA Finals after spraining his left ankle in a scary fall during a collision when Cleveland's J.R. Smith slid into him in the first quarter of the series opener Thursday night.
Curry scored 16 points in the 4th quarter, including a 4-point play from a corner 3-pointer and the record breaker from the left side with 3:30 remaining.
The all-time leader in 3-pointers made in the playoffs is Ray Allen with 385.
JaVale McGee has kept the Cavaliers from getting even closer with a couple more baskets and is up to 12 points on 6-for-6 shooting after being promoted to the starting lineup. Thompson being available for Game 2 could be huge for the Cavs, as he offers the size and aggressiveness that could help them dominate the boards.
Kevin Durant wants the Warriors to remove the luck factor going forward.
"I didn't realize how much you use your ankle until you hurt it", said Thompson after the game.
People have died this week since Alberto made landfall
Western portions of the Carolinas have seen more than 20 inches in the past two weeks, the National Weather Service said. All campgrounds along the Catawba River have been evacuated, and significant flooding is occurring along the river.
"The game's over. There's nothing we can do about it", Cavs coach Tyronn Lue said. He scored 29 points, collected nine rebounds and dished out 13 assists.
It's safe to say that if Curry turns in two more performances like he did at the beginning of the series, the Cavaliers are going to have a very hard time winning a game.
James has 1,298 points in the finals and needs 20 to move ahead of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (1,317) into second place behind Jerry West. Jeff Green airballed a hopeless jump hook, then Curry pushed the ball and set up Draymond Green for a 3-pointer with no one in Green's vicinity. They must focus on unraveling the Warriors in Game 2 by working together.
Cleveland was one play away from winning a stunner straight up in Game 1.
The NBA Finals can be tense, but Steve Kerr is doing what he can to keep it loose.
I could be wrong, but I think these two games are going to be emotionally draining for the Cavs - and especially, LeBron James. "If I was betting, I would say Klay is playing [Sunday] just based on who he is and his attitude today, for sure".
