Afridi to lead ICC World XI

Surrey all-rounder Sam Curran and England fast bowler Tymal Mills were also added to the World XI squad.

A fractured finger has ruled Eoin Morgan out of Thursday's fund-raiser Twenty20 International between ICC World XI and Windies at Lord's, the International Cricket Council confirmed on Tuesday (May 29).

He said: "It's a great honour to be leading the ICC World XI side, that too for such a good cause".

Former Pakistan skipper Afridi represented his country in over 500 global matches and famously broke the record for the fastest ODI century in his maiden worldwide innings as a 16-year-old, blazing his way to a 37-ball hundred.

England squad v Scotland: EJG Morgan (Captain), MM Ali, JM Bairstow, SW Billings (wkt), AD Hales, LE Plunkett, AU Rashid, JE Root, JJ Roy, BA Stokes, DJ Willey, CR Woakes, MA Wood.

It is learnt that Morgan fractured his fingers during Middlesex's game against Somerset at Taunton.

The batsman was set to captain the World XI in a game which is being held to raise funds for stadiums in Dominica and Anguilla damaged by hurricanes previous year.

The England skipper was named in a 13-man squad to face Scotland and also a 14-strong line-up for the five clashes with Australia, that starts at The Oval on June 13.

"It was my first time being selected in a charitable but also World XI game, it's very special to be selected", he said.
