"I nearly won it, and so I just kind of assumed that it would come easy to me", the three-time major champion said Tuesday ahead of Thursday's start of the 45th Players Championship.
"The Players Championship - I like the golf course", Johnson said.
"I have embraced that challenge in recent years - hitting to the same spot as everyone else, hitting an eight-iron to the green instead of getting a wedge in your hand".
McIlroy was honest, as always, and showed just how much he pays attention.
There are a lot of players who were in last week's field who wish they were having the same "loose" swing issues Day felt he was having. Spieth is playing with Justin Thomas and Rory McIlroy, a star attraction at any tournament except maybe one that has Woods, Phil Mickelson and Rickie Fowler in the same group. McGirt has made three cuts in five tries at TPC Sawgrass, and has finished at or under par in the three times he's made the cut.
"If I can keep up my form, I don't think the trophy is far away from me", said Kiradech.
"I certainly go back and take a look at those moments, that was a pretty good run back then", he said at his pre-tournament press conference. "I just didn't have a feel for the golf course, and I just didn't make the adjustments". It's busy and there's a lot of people. "So I actually put a lot of it down that".
Favorite Justify wins Kentucky Derby on wettest race day
Bravazo, sixth in the Derby, might be the top Derby foe to challenge Justify over the shorter distance in Baltimore. Television ratings for the Kentucky Derby , telecast by NBC Sports, dropped to their lowest level in six years .
"This is my ninth time here so I'm not a spring chicken any more". I've got a few years under my belt, and it took me a few years to figure it out, but I've had a few top-10s here and I haven't been quite right in contention but I've been close enough. All I wanted to do this year was to give myself chances, it wasn't about results. Johnson ranks 13th in Birdie Average (4.14) and 15th in Scoring Average (69.979), showing you don't have to bomb it off the tee to be successful. You've got to be in the top-50 in the world or have full PGA Tour status.
"As soon as the Masters went and I had a week to reflect and everything, it was all positive", said McIlroy, part of an all-star group for the first two rounds alongside Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas.
"Am I one of them?" he asked.
Since then the Northern Irishman has finished eighth, sixth, eighth and 12th before a tie for 35th place a year ago.
After coming in a tie for 55th in Charlotte over the weekend and struggling with his putter, Woods said the familiarity he has with TPC Sawgrass won't lead to what happened at Quail Hollow Club.
As well as winning four major titles, the World Number 8 has claimed two World Golf Championship events and four FedEx Cup play-off tournaments, with his victory in the 2016 Tour Championship giving him the overall title and 10million U.S. dollars bonus. The only problem there is that Johnson, for all his ability, has never finished better than 12th at The Players.
