Seventh murder charge for alleged Toronto serial killer

12 April 2018

Alleged serial killer Bruce McArthur is now facing a seventh premeditated murder charge while the investigative team is combing through cold cases from mid-1970s to late 1990s in search other potential cases connected to the 66-year-old Toronto landscaper, Toronto police said Wednesday.

Bruce McArthur, who appeared in court through a video link, has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Abdulbasir Faizi.

Investigators previously confirmed that the remains of at least seven people were found in planters on a property where the 66-year-old kept equipment for his landscaping business.

Police are expected Wednesday to provide an update on the photo of a dead man they released in early March, who is believed to be another victim of McArthur's.

McArthur was charged with an additional three counts of first-degree murder on January 29 for the deaths of Majeed Kayhan, 58, Soroush Mahmudi, 50, and Dean Lisowick, believed to be 43 or 44.

Later that month, McArthur was charged with the first-degree murder of Majeed Kayhan, Soroush Mahmudi, and Dean Lisowick. McArthur has already been charged in the deaths of the other two men, Majeed Kayhan and Skandaraj Navaratnam, included in the Project Houston probe. "It didn't make sense that police had this theory that he ran away", she said.

The 44-year-old Brampton man vanished in December 2010 and his vehicle was later found on Moore Ave - near Mount Pleasant Rd. and St. Clair Ave. E.

Di Francesco On Roma Win: I Deserve The Credit
Roma entered the match as massive underdogs after losing the first leg 4-1 to the side favored to win the whole competition. Captain De Rossi rifled the ball beyond Ter Stegen to double Roma's advantage and the home side were not finished there.

Idsinga said pathologists are working to identify the remains of at least one more person found on the property. They say he targeted men he met through dating apps that cater to gay men, meeting them at bars in the Gay Village area of Toronto, as well as male prostitutes.

Lisowick, a homeless prostitute who struggled with drugs hadn't even been reported missing when police announced he was one of victims.

Idsinga said police are now re-examining 15 cold cases dating back as far as 1975 in their investigation.

The 2016 interaction was the second time police spoke with McArthur in the years before he was charged with murder. The remains of all but Kayhan have been identified among those recovered from the planters at the Leaside home.

"We've quite frankly never seen anything like it", Idsinga said.

In the three months since Bruce McArthur's arrest as a suspected serial killer, photos of the jovial-looking, husky landscaper have been splashed in the media.

The city's police board has also approved an external review, requested by Mayor John Tory, that will look into how the force handled the cases of men missing from the gay village.
