New Uprising Event in Overwatch Dated For April 10th

02 April 2018

The Overwatch team has announced that the popular Uprising event will return in 2018 on April 10th. Today that changed, with Blizzard confirming the return of Uprising next month.

The King's Row Uprising took place seven years before present-day Overwatch, when an extremist group of Omnics calling itself Null Sector launched an insurgency in an upscale neighborhood of London.

The 2017 Uprising event included a four-player PvE Brawl mode featuring Reinhardt, Tracer, Torbjorn, or Mercy in a wave-based, survival mode against Omnic robots. In the teaser post, which is an animated image, there is a moment where the text within the image changes.

LeBron James Breaks Michael Jordan's Double-Digit Scoring Record
It came to an end with Jordan scoring six points in 25 minutes on 2-for-10 shooting in a 27-point loss to the Indiana Pacers . In his 15th season, James is leading the league in minutes and top-three in both points and assists per game.

Chances are Blizzard is going to keep things tightly under wraps until April 10, but it should be worth the wait to peer into yet another chapter of Overwatch's lore. The photo ops will also, of course, come with a 360-degree panoramic stage where you can take a picture on one of Overwatch's arena maps. Blackwatch was the covert operations arm of Overwatch before it was shut down and suspended for suspicious activity.

The Uprising event needs to delve into the motives behind Blackwatch, which will subsequently give information on Talon's motives.

While not yet confirmed, a Blackwatch Archives or general Archives event certainly sounds like an exciting direction. The small video seems to be hacked possibly indicating that Sombra will be playing a part in the event. This was wildly successful the first time around, with the Google Trends tracking of Overwatch showing that the game hasn't reached a popularity equal to the last one since it ended. All players who complete the regular season will receive $10 of Blizzard Balance, regardless of placement.
