Disneyland bets big on 'completely immersive' super-hero attractions

21 March 2018

The California Adventure attraction will become a "completely immersive Super Hero universe", anchored by "Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: BREAKOUT!" in the space now occupied by the kiddie attraction "A Bug's Land". The Guardians of the Galaxy will be joined by Spider-Man and the Avengers in a completely immersive Super Hero universe in Disney California Adventure Park.

In the video above, they invite guests to become part of a bigger universe that will be filled with the heroes and adventures that have been seen on the big screen.

Developed with Marvel Studios and Marvel Themed Entertainment, the new attractions will appear at Disneyland Resort, Disneyland Paris, and Hong Kong Disneyland. Therefore, there can't be a Marvel-themed area at Disney World.

The attraction will take the space now occupied by the kiddie attraction "A Bug's Land", according to Variety. That land will close in late summer 2018. It will join the park's previous Iron Man Experience, which opened in 2017. This summer Disneyland Paris is hosting the Marvel Summer of Super Heroes, a new live show featuring superheroes, special effects, and projections.

Now Disney will be putting Marvel's superhero characters to work at its parks in Anaheim, Paris and Hong Kong, according to Variety.

Fanboys and fangirls will get to revel in three new areas at three different parks.

Disneyland Paris will host a Marvel Summer of Super Heroes event from June 10 to September 20, where "heroes will take the stage for a brand new, live-action super-production featuring cutting-edge special effects and spectacular projections", according to a press release.

Hong Kong Disneyland will also be getting its own Marvel-themed area, adding to the current Iron Man Experience with an attraction in which visitors get to team up with Ant-Man and The Wasp.
