The victor will face either No. 5 Clemson (23-9) or No. 12 New Mexico State (28-5) in the second round.

1998 - No. 14 College of Charleston vs.

The winners of those two games will face each other in the second round on Sunday.

This marks the first time since head coach Brad Brownell's inaugural season at Clemson that the Tigers have advanced to the NCAA Tournament. "I will have two of the teams working with me for at least the next 48 hours and focusing just on the College of Charleston. It will be good, just getting back out there and competing and getting back into game shape", said Bryce Brown, who is averaging 16.2 points per game and led the SEC with 101 made 3-pointers.

New Mexico State had a 12-2 record in conference play and had a 1-1 record in Top 25 action. Charleston came into the season as the favorites to win the CAA and the Cougars didn't disappoint as the Cougars have won 14 of their last 15 games and now have the 82nd ranked scoring defense in the country.

"We've got to get back to playing our best basketball", Pearl said. The victor of that second-round game will face the victor from Clemson and Auburn's side of the bracket in Sweet Sixteen play. Coach Chris Jans' Aggies are led by senior guard Zach Lofton, who is averaging 19.8 points per game, and senior forward Jemerrio Jones, who is averaging 11.1 points and 13.1 rebounds per game. We have a lot of alums in Southern California and they are right there.

CBS reporter Seth Davis predicted New Mexico State would give Clemson fits but didn't make a prediction. "I'm going with the upset", Barkley said. "As a good defender, I just like to know what my matchup is like".
