Teacher arrested after firing a gun in a US high school

04 March 2018

In a press conference, officials said that Davidson surrendered after the School Resource officer talked him out of his classroom. He was again brought to the hospital and treated.

In January 2017, Davidson left the high school when he said he didn't feel well, the AJC reports.

"Obviously, at that point, he locked down the school", Frazier said.

He stated other options include facility improvements and even arming teachers, although he said that is not his first choice. "I challenge you to disclose to me furnishing educators will make us safe", she tweeted to the NRA.

Two of his friends offered to "take care of her" and he said he agreed, according to a 2016 police report.

Police arrested a Georgia teacher for firing a gun at school, just days after President Donald Trump ignited a national debate over whether some teachers should carry weapons to protect their students.

Jail records do not indicate whether he has an attorney.

Dalton High has about 2,000 students.

This is Bruce Frazier, with the Dalton Police Department.

A mother has revealed the terrifying text messages her daughter sent her while hiding inside a classroom following reports of gunfire at her school in Georgia. She said she immediately pulled over and started shaking.

53-year-old Jesse Randal Davidson is a social studies teacher at Dalton High School. He taught social studies, and served as play-by-play voice of the school's football team. No students were injured by gun fire. Fortunately no loss of life was caused but one student is reported to have suffered an ankle injury during the process of evacuation. But Dalton High Principal Steve Bartoo told reporters that "as far as I know he was fit to be at work".

Schools across West Virginia closed for sixth day
Without an agreement, all West Virginia public schools remained closed Thursday as the strike over pay and benefits continued. West Virginia Superintendent of Schools Steven Paine confirmed schools will be back in session Thursday.

There they found a teacher had barricaded himself in a classroom.

"At the time, there is a barricaded subject in a classroom".

The note, which was found on February 21, had mentioned a threat against the school the following day.

Dalton is about 30 miles south of Chattanooga.

The shot was sacked, broke through a window and left the building, but no one was hit.

No students were in the classroom. Davidson then fired his weapon at a window and sent the students and faculty into a frenzy. He says authorities have recovered a handgun.

Students were evacuated to a safe area. He was taken into custody about 30 to 45 minutes later, Frazier told reporters.

The student was treated by the EMS at the school.

"Officers were on scene very quickly".

Wednesday's incident in Dalton is only the most recent in a string of threats to student safety that local law enforcement agencies have investigated in the weeks since the Parkland, Fla., shooting in which 17 students were killed.
