Byrns and Alice were found shortly before 6 p.m.at a Holiday Inn Express and Suites near Macon, Georgia, deputies said.
Officials with the Bibb County Sheriff's Office said John Peter Byrns, of Hoffman Estates, Illinois, was taken into custody. "This is the best outcome we could have hoped for".
"She's lucky to be alive, that the circumstances are not any worse than what they are", Jerry Demings, the sheriff of Orange Co., Fla., said in a televised news conference Monday.
Bibb deputies and Federal Bureau of Investigation agents responded to the scene and found Johnson and Byrns inside a hotel room Sunday evening.
Bibb County juvenile crimes investigator Sgt. Tania Clausen says they've seen cases like this before. Before her parents left to drive to Macon to get her, they had a heartfelt warning to share.
Apple's Excellence In Design Leads To Employees Smacking Into Glass Walls
An 83-year-old woman sued Apple in 2012 when she broke her nose after walking into an Apple Store's glass door. When asked to comment about the head-smacking incidents, an Apple spokeswoman declined to comment.
Byrns first made contact with the child through an online video game platform.
Byrns is now being held for the F.B.I.at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.
"This is someone that she's been communicating with online under the guise of being a female and basically has just pulled her into a trap, so to speak", her father said. He convinced Johnson to leave her home to meet him.
Even more alarming is the Orange County Sheriff says there may be other victims. Agents are keeping Johnson in safe place until she is reunited with her family.
Demings said Byrns is not a registered sex offender.
