Could Harvey Weinstein apologize at the Golden Globes?

11 January 2018

Seth Meyers started off the 2018 Golden Globes attacking the sexual predators in Hollywood, starting with disgraced movie producer Harvey Weinstein.

Tune in after the telecast for The Hollywood Reporter and Hollywood Foreign Press Association's official aftershow, live on Twitter.

"Good evening ladies and remaining gentleman", said Meyers. Because, well, I've heard rumors that he's insane and hard to work with.

However, joke participant Amy Poehler made it obvious that she didn't need any help with hers. After a red carpet hour (plus) in which supportive actors of both sexes explained why they were wearing black in solidarity with the Time's Up initiative and the #MeToo movement, Meyers reminded the audience exactly why Hollywood has become ground zero for combatting workplace sexual harassment.

Meyers went on to congratulate Insecure creator and star Issa Rae for having "three projects in development" with HBO - to which Rae responded, "yeah. and three projects is also where they think I'm from". This is the beginning of the awards season, and thus the first show to address all the sexual scandals that came to light in 2017 (and show no signs of abating in 2018). Meyers suggested that Spacey's replacement in All the Money in the World, Christopher Plummer, also replace Spacey in the Netflix series House of Cards.

"- said Kevin Spacey", Eichner interrupted, "'you lost me at 'of age'".

Here's how the NBC late-night comedian tackled the biggest issues of the night.

After Page Six exclusively reported that Hollywood was freaking out over alleged sightings of Harvey Weinstein in LA leading up to the Golden Globes - which his reps have denied - the rumors nevertheless persisted.

This year, however, it was USA comedian's Seth Meyers' turn to take the reins (although he did enlist the help of a few of the stars to deliver some of his punch lines). Hong Chau of Downsizing then joked, "But those numbers may be off since a white man did the math". "It's a gay coming-of-age film". Meanwhile, Bert and Ernie have been doing a parody of Call Me By Your Name for years. You're explaining something I already know. "But if it's any consolation, I'm a man with absolutely no power in Hollywood". "When I first heard about a film where a woman falls in love with a ugly monster, I thought it was a Woody Allen movie", Meyers said, referring to Guillermo del Toro's best picture nominee The Shape of Water.

But he even called himself out for hosting and put hosts of future shows like the Oscars on notice by comparing himself to the "first dog they shot into outer-space". "The only name that would make him angrier would be the 'Hillary Mexico Salad Associated'".
