"Acer announces their latest 11" Chromebook ahead of CES 2018

11 January 2018

The first Chromebooks of 2018 are finally out in the form of HP Chromebook 14 G5 and the Chromebook 11 G6. Add to that the small 11.6-inch display, and it can be packed in your bag easily.

The aptly titled HP Chromebook 11 G6 and HP Chromebook 14 G5 can't twist and turn quite like the Chromebook x360, and they're obviously way less powerful than Google's Pixelbook, improving however on the 11 G5 and 14 G4 with 7th Gen Intel processors and USB-C connectivity.

The Chromebook 11 is outfitted with an 11.6-inch display that features a surprisingly low 1366×768 resolution, as well as options for touch and non-touch displays. The highlight of the Acer Chromebook 11 CB311 is the addition of a fanless design, which helps the device to work silently in any environment. "Customers can play games, stay productive, enjoy content and do even more with the new Acer Chromebook 11 thanks to its support of Google Play". It's great to see that Acer has given us a USB-C port on each side, so no matter where the outlet is, you can charge from either port. The whole thing is 0.71-inches thick and weighs 2.43 pounds. With any luck, the Acer Chromebook 11 will deliver a bright, crisp viewing experience for its users. "The model numbers for these new devices are CB311-8HT and CB311-8H and they both offer up an 11.6" display.

It is safe to assume that the laptops will run all the Android apps. Actually, the OS is a full Linux distribution that is both extremely secure and easy to use. There is a microSD card reader to expand the onboard 16 GB or 32 GB storage. The Chromebooks will be available in black and dark grey color options.

Fire at Trump Tower in New York's Manhattan, no casualties
Two people were injured after a fire broke out at Trump Tower Monday morning, FDNY said. More than 126 firefighters responded to the scene.

Acer has stated that the Chromebook 11 is going to be available in the EMEA market first and will cost €249, while it'll be available in the United States come April for $249.

The new HP Chromebook will be released in April, with a price yet to be disclosed.

HP has not revealed pricing for either device, but that may be available next week at CES 2018 where the devices will be on display. Let's take a look at what Acer is offering.
