From Norfolk to the Maryland and DE beaches, including much of the southern half of the Delmarva Peninsula, 3 to 6 inches of heavy snow are predicted from Wednesday evening to Thursday afternoon.

Forget Bomb Pops, punk band Tsunami Bomb or Bob-omb from Super Mario Bros. "The formation of this rapidly strengthening weather system is a process called bombogenesis, which creates what is known as a bomb cyclone". New England, the northeastern region of the United States, will possibly experience blizzard conditions late Thursday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). The storm will resemble a winter hurricane, bringing potentially damaging winds in addition to "blinding snow".

"That's what will be happening with this storm", Hull said. We may only see some flurries to possibly 2 inches of accumulation from Wednesday night into Thursday morning. But brutal temperatures will more than make up for the lack of snow: highs in the single digits and winds up to 21 miles per hour are expected Friday and Saturday. Eastern Long Island could get 6 to 10 inches of snow and winds clocking 50 miles per hour.

Now, this doesn't mean you should ignore the storm if you're located in a place that will be affected by it. "As these winds move toward the center of the storm at high speed, property damage can occur, trees may fall and the power may go out". In Charleston, South Carolina, one to three inches of snow and sleet are expected. 5 to 8 inches is predicted for the beaches of DE and Maryland, with as much as a foot possible, depending on the storm's path. A storm that strengthens that abruptly can bring near hurricane force winds and very heavy precipitation. However, if the storm heads east and out into seas, the amount of snow will decrease and wind speeds will die down. It will be massive - fill up entire Western Atlantic off U.S. East Coast.

The #BombCyclone, as it's being referred to, is legitimately a powerful cyclone that will form over the next day. A millibar measures atmospheric pressure. As well, some cars may have trouble starting in such cold temperatures, so keep that in mind if you decide to make a trip to the store; no one wants to come back out to the auto, only to find out that it won't start. The National Weather Service has already posted winter storm watches from Lake City, Fla.to Norfolk.

The Northeast is about to be battered by a "bomb cyclone" and meteorologists are warning people to prepare for the chilly blasts.
