Florida State hires Willie Taggart as coach

06 December 2017

Taggart, a Florida native, spent one season in OR, going 7-5. He replaces Jimbo Fisher, who took the job at Texas A&M.

"Do Something" became his tagline for his first season with the Ducks.

The Ducks made a quicker turnaround under the new coach, going 7-5 in his first year after managing just a 4-8 record the year before. But FSU rebounded and won four of five down the stretch to continue the program's record bowl streak to 36 consecutive years. He led USF to a win against SC in the Birmingham Bowl last season before heading to Oregon.

The FSU football program reportedly has its new head coach.

Bryan Singer No Longer Directing Queen Biopic
Director Bryan Singer has reportedly been asked to part ways with the upcoming Freddie Mercury biopic " Bohemian Rhapsody ". In his absence, cinematographer Newton Thomas Sigel stepped in to help direct for several days of shooting.

One thing is certain: the Ducks and Broncos will meet in Las Vegas for the first time since the infamous 2009 postgame incident between the two teams which saw LaGarrette Blount punch a Boise State player in the face, prompting a suspension.

Fisher went 82-23 in eight seasons at Florida State, leading the Seminoles to eight straights bowls and a BCS National Championship Game victory against Auburn in 2013. After quarterback Deondre Francois was injured in the highly-anticipated opener against Alabama, FSU, ranked No. 3 to begin the season, got off to a terrible 2-5 start. Taggart is expected to bring in several top assistants, many with ties to the state of Florida.

This has a big impact on Boise State which faces OR in the Las Vegas Bowl on Saturday, Dec. 16 as they will be taking on a Ducks team that lost its coach 13 days before kickoff.
