Veterans Day Parade to step off

Since Veterans Day is on a Saturday this year, many events are being held on Friday - with some continuing throughout the weekend. Nicole Erwin of WKMS News was on site to capture the events in photos.

The ceremony, which is open to the public without charge, is sponsored by the Virginia War Memorial, a division of the Virginia Department of Veterans Services, in partnership with the Richmond Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities.

More than 100 veterans groups will participate in the parade, along with Alvin I. Solomon, a U.S. Army private in World War II who will turn 101 December 23, and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy Reserve. "Salute to Service" fundraiser for Veterans Day, which will benefit veterans and military organizations. Symbols of Freedom, presented by Wells Fargo, will feature military displays and activities at City Hall.

Korean War veterans will be honored at a ceremony beginning at 11 Heritage Park, 2481 Heritage Lane, in North Natomas. A resource fair and vehicle show will be held from 11:30 a.m. -3:30 the parking lot of Jackie Robinson Stadium.

This is despite the fact that the Nintendo Switch is a touchscreen device, and Hulu has used a touchscreen interface before. However, Nintendo made it clear that its intention with the Switch was to have games be at the forefront of the console.

Line-up begins at 12:30 Southern States.

Helena's annual Veterans Day ceremony is slated to start at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Lewis and Clark County Veterans Memorial located at Memorial Park. The ceremony will include readings honoring veterans that have been written by local students.

Wampsville - Madison County will honor its veterans with a ceremony at its county veterans memorial at 11 a.m. From 1971-1977, Veterans Day was held in late October.
