Kevin Spacey dropped from film after fresh sexual allegations

10 November 2017

Spacey was axed from the film, "All the Money in the World", directed by Ridley Scott, which premieres on Friday, Dec. 22.

The movie is set to come out in threatres in a little over a month. Legendary actor Christoper Plummer is slated to replace Spacey, who did not immediately issue a statement. And incredibly, Scott intends to reshoot the eight to ten days of work that Spacey did on the project, and still hit the planned December 22nd release date.

Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Williams also star in the movie, and are expected to be involved with the reshoots.

The news follows a wave of sexual assault allegations made against Spacey by over a dozen people, including multiple accusations of assault on underage victims. All the Money in the World chronicles the true life saga of the kidnapping of John Paul Getty III (Charlie Plummer) and his mother's desperate attempt to convince his insanely wealthy grandfather (Spacey/Plummer) to pay the ransom. Imperative Entertainment financed the film, and Friedkin and Thomas produced along with Scott Free's Scott and Kevin J. Walsh, Quentin Curtis and Chris Clark.

Plummer "was reportedly Scott's first choice for the role of Getty, but the director was pressured into casting a bigger name", The Guardian reports.

Scott once before was forced to deal with re-shooting on a film, following the death of Oliver Reed in the Oscar winning Gladiator.

The latest accusation against Spacey came Wednesday, when a former television news anchor accused him of sexually molesting her son a year ago when he was 18.

Kevin Spacey faces fresh allegations of inappropriate behavior.

Spacey has suffered a rapid fall from grace since actor Anthony Rapp, who starred in the 2005 musical Rent, accused Spacey of making sexual advances toward him in 1986 when Rapp was 14.

Spacey, who was 26 at the time, said: "I honestly do not remember the encounter, it would have been over 30 years ago".

After the allegations were levelled against Kevin Spacey, Netflix also cut ties with the actor.
